Sense International would like to invite Rotarians from clubs around the UK to join us on the Trek Turkey Challenge, a moderate 5 day trip to the Lycian Way, Turkey. This stretch of coast is commonly said to be one of the top ten walking destinations in the world, and participants on this trip will be quick to see why.
Days will be spent walking through olive groves, summer pastures and deep forests, past impressive mountains and ancient ruins. There will be opportunities to take a dip in the inviting turquoise waters and a half day will also be spent relaxing aboard a typical Turkish boat before then exploring the surrounding islands on foot. Evenings will be spent enjoying traditional Turkish hospitality in villages along the trail. Dates: 8 – 12 October, 2008 (includes a weekend). Distance walked: 53KM (33 miles) over the whole trek. Fitness required: Moderate degree of fitness only. Cost option 1: Pay the full cost for this trip (£950) and then raise sponsorship in addition to this. To give aguide, others on this trek are aiming to raise £1,300 in sponsorship per person though this amount is flexible. Cost option 2: Fundraise £2,250 and have Sense International cover your costs for you. Where will the money go? All funds raised through sponsorship for this trek will go to Sense International’s work supporting deafblind people in developing countries worldwide.
